Little Harbour
A Destination With A Dash Of
Off-The-Grid Charm

Just a few minutes from The Abaco Club lies the picturesque oasis known as Little Harbour. It’s here that you’ll find The Abaco Yacht Club, with its dedicated boat slips for club members, along with a members’ clubhouse, sundries shop, and a host of services for boaters. Little Harbour is sheltered on all sides, and quite shallow at low tide. But for boaters, it’s a very special kind of paradise, a hidden enclave that’s at the same time one of Abaco’s worst-kept secrets.
In the 1950’s, Randolph and Margot Johnson settled here with their children, reportedly living in nearby caves while they worked to create a small art community. Randolph Johnson established a foundry here, and became internationally known for his bronze sculptures. The Johnson family still operates the foundry and associated gallery, as well as neighboring Pete’s Pub—an open-air beach bar serving some of the freshest fish and most creative rum drinks on the islands. There’s nothing fancy about Pete’s, as its sand floor and roof constructed of colorful t-shirts and flags will attest. But the excellent food is uniquely Bahamian and well worth a visit.
